Vampyr นำเสนอเรื่องราวและบรรยากาศชั้นยอด แต่ปัญหาทางเทคนิคที่ร้ายแรง การสำรวจที่น่าผิดหวัง และส่วนการต่อสู้ที่น่าเบื่อและไร้แรงบันดาลใจ

ด้วย  Vampyr สตูดิโอ Life is Strange Dontnod Entertainment ได้ลองเล่นเกมแอคชั่นสวมบทบาทแนวสยองขวัญ ตัวอย่างบรรยากาศของเกมทำให้หลายคนต้องหันมอง และถือว่าเป็น  หนึ่งในเกมสยองขวัญที่มีผู้รอคอยมากที่สุดแห่งปี น่าเสียดายสำหรับแฟน ๆ หนังสยองขวัญที่กำลังมองหาประสบการณ์ใหม่ ๆ ของแวมไพร์คุณภาพสูง พวกเขาควรกลับไปเล่นเกมอย่าง  Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaverและ  Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines ดีกว่า

นอกจากปัญหาด้านเทคนิคมากมายแล้ว  Vampyrยังประสบปัญหาจากการต่อสู้ที่น่าเบื่อและไร้แรงบันดาลใจอีกด้วย การต่อสู้ส่วนใหญ่ประกอบด้วยการฟาดหัวศัตรูด้วยไม้กระบองหรือฟันพวกมันด้วยมีดพร้า ดูดเลือดเมื่อมีโอกาส และพุ่งไปรอบ ๆ เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงความเสียหาย ความสามารถของแวมไพร์นั้นต่ำต้อยมาก โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในช่วงเริ่มต้นของเกม จนถึงจุดที่ส่วนใหญ่มีประโยชน์น้อยกว่าการใช้อาวุธระยะประชิดหรือปืนทั่วไป

ครั้งเดียวที่การต่อสู้ใน  Vampyrมีส่วนร่วมจริงๆ คือระหว่างการต่อสู้กับบอสแบบตัวต่อตัว แต่ถึงอย่างนั้น การเผชิญหน้าก็ไม่มีอะไรให้พูดถึง การต่อสู้ที่ขาดแรงบันดาลใจของ Vampyrนั้นสร้างแต่ความยุ่งเหยิงให้กับเนื้อเรื่อง ทำลายเหตุผลหลักในการเล่นเกมไปบางส่วน และน่าเสียดายที่มันไม่ใช่สิ่งเดียวที่ทำให้เกิดปัญหาการเว้นจังหวะ

การดำเนินเนื้อเรื่องหลักใน  Vampyrให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนเป็นงานที่น่าเบื่อด้วยเหตุผลนอกเหนือจากการต่อสู้ที่น่าเบื่อ การนำทางไปตามถนนที่เหมือนเขาวงกตในลอนดอนอาจเป็นเรื่องที่น่าเบื่อหน่าย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งเมื่อเข็มทิศที่อยู่ด้านบนสุดของหน้าจอช่วยชี้นำผู้เล่นไปในทิศทางที่ถูกต้อง เราพบว่าตัวเองอ้างถึงแผนที่อย่างต่อเนื่องเพื่อบรรลุวัตถุประสงค์บางอย่าง ซึ่งไม่ใช่เรื่องใหญ่อะไร เว้นแต่เราจะรู้สึกค้างเล็กน้อยทุกครั้งที่เปิดมันขึ้นมา เช่นเดียวกับเวลาในการโหลดและการต่อสู้ที่ยืดเยื้อ การหลงทางในลอนดอนทำให้เราไม่ได้สัมผัสกับสิ่งที่  Vampyrทำได้ดีจริงๆ
